Gunite
swimming pools are built in limitless shapes and sizes. This type of
pool lends itself to creating unique, one-of-a-kind designs that easily
incorporate outstanding water features
like waterfalls, spillover spas and rock formations.
Our Gunite photo gallery showcases just a few of the many designs Pete Alewine Pool Company has built through the years.
Step 1. The pool shape is formed by excavating the dirt to form the basic shape of your pool.
Step 2. The excavation is lined with #3 & #4 reinforcing steel tied in a grid pattern along the bottom and sides to give strength to the pool.
Step 3. The reinforcing steel is then "shot" with 4000 psi shotcrete (a type of concrete) to create a solid reinforced shell.
Step 4. Waterline tile is installed around the perimeter of the pool, which provides aesthetic beauty and prevents waterline stain on your plaster. There are numerous selections for you to choose from.
Step 5. Plaster is applied to the shell, which seals the concrete, making it waterproof. There are many plaster finishes from which to choose, from white to Pebble finishes (an exposed pebble aggregate). Whatever your choice, your pool is sure to provide years of enjoyment and pleasure.
